Toyota Prius v versus Gen 1 Honda Odyssey
Same size and performance, but the v is 115 percent more fuel efficient
In an interesting review of the Toyota Prius v, MotorTrend has compared the new, larger Prius with the first gen Honda Odyssey minivan, which was about the same size as the new v will be and offered about the same performance specs.
Consequently, the main difference between the two vehicles, according to MotorTrend’s reviewer is efficiency, the Prius v is 115 percent more fuel efficient than the Odyssey.
OK. The first gen Odyssey was launched 17 years ago and has since grown bigger. What about modern competitors?
The Mazda5 mini minivan averages a combined 24 mpg, the Prius v, 42 mpg. Still a huge difference, although the 5 offers a much lower base price.
Overall, MotorTrend’s reviewer offers up a very positive review of the v, check out the full review here.

Not only efficiency. Prius v meets or even excel today’s crash tests.
