Toyota Prius still the best used hybrid
Used hybrids? Think Prius according to Edmunds
With a tough economy, almost everyone is looking to save some money. Thus, if you’re looking for a new ride, one of the smartest financial moves you can make is to buy used, at least according to Warren Buffett.
And if you’re looking to buy a used hybrid, your best bet is still the Toyota Prius.
Based on “a range of factors from consumer ratings to NHTSA crash safety tests, to True Cost to Own metrics” Edmunds finds that the 2004-2009 Prius is still the best used hybrid option.
Of course, is now really a good time to buy any used car, especially a Prius?
The latest research indicates that used cars are at their highest prices in many years because of new car shortages as a result of the Japanese earthquake/tsunami-caused supply shortage. Ironically, few cars have been hit as hard by this crisis as the Prius.
That doesn’t mean I’m questioning Edmunds’ selection, but I was a bit surprised considering the current supply situation. Nevertheless, this is great news for Prius buyers.

It’s the battery…..
Toyota figured out how to extend the life of the battery.
I know many Prius owners who have more than 100,000 miles and see no degradation in battery performance.
