Toyota Prius, including Prius V, getting back on track
Toyota Prius supply issues quickly improving
This morning Goldman Sachs raised their oil forecasts for 2011 and 2012 to $120 and $140 per barrel respectively. If true, $4.00 gasoline could become common and that should be good news for the Toyota Prius family.
While Prius supplies have been low in recent months because of higher gas prices and a massive disruption in production caused by the Japanese earthquake, the supply situation is quickly improving.
By June Toyota expects Prius supplies to be back to 70 percent of normal and to continue to improve through the summer. Even better, by October it appears the Prius should be back on track, as that will also be the month that Toyota begins selling the Prius V, the larger 44/40 mpg city/highway Prius.
Likewise, the plug-in Prius will also be available for sale either late in 2011 or early 2012, to be followed by the Prius C – slated to be a smaller and cheaper Prius.
So, while higher gasoline prices aren’t great news, at least consumers will find more and more choices in the coming months.
