Toyota preps for big increase in hybrid sales
Cheaper hybrids soon?
Since 1997 Toyota has sold more than 2.68 million hybrid vehicles. However, by early this decade, Toyota expects cumulative hybrid sales to top 5 million hybrid cars as the automaker moves towards selling 1 million hybrids per year by at least 2015.
Just big talk?
For some time now Toyota has expressed the desire to offer a hybrid option for every model, a goal that Toyota is now saying should be achieved around 2020. Likewise, expanding the Prius lineup has been on Toyota’s plate for a few years.
Certainly, new models and new markets should help Toyota increase hybrid sales, but jumping to 1 million per year in just the next few years? What pushes them over the top?
Is it lithium? CO2 legislation? Higher gas prices? Chinese demand? All of the above?
Possibly, but inevitably, it also seems cheaper hybrids will be required.

Hybrid cars are now known as future generation cars. In the coming future it will make a better selling in car market. I hope Toyota will try to grow and remain ahead in the row.
Toyota is growing its performance, quality and popularity.
