Toyota Camry hybrid hits 43 mpg in the city
Camry hybrid gets serious
Today, Toyota officially unveiled the new Camry hybrid, as well as the conventional Camry. While the new Camry hybrid doesn’t look a whole lot different, its what’s underneath that really matters, right?
And what’s underneath is an updated hybrid drive that achieves a segment-leading 43 mpg in the city.
Together with its 39 mpg on the highway, the Camry hybrid offers a combined 41 mpg, a pretty impressive number based on the size and power of the Camry hybrid. Base MSRP is $25,900.
The new Camry hybrid offers ten air bags, smart key, and a new entertainment package, Entune, that can connect with mobile applications like Pandora.
Expect the new Camry hybrid to hit dealerships in October.

My guess is that a moderately skilled hypermiler could squeeze 50 MPG out of the revised TCH.
For me, 50 is the new 40.
A price drop on a hybrid vehicle?
Two possible causes:
1. Mass production is lowering the cost of hybrid technology, allow for lower pricing
2. Competition from the Ford Fusion Hybrid is making Toyota lower the price.
Both are good things IMHO……
