Toyota A-BAT hybrid truck still alive
A-BAT hybrid truck concept not dead yet
I loved the Toyota A-BAT hybrid pickup truck concept vehicle when I first saw it several years ago at the North American International Auto Show. It just seemed so smart, so functional, and so needed in the pickup truck space.
Thus, a few years later when I heard that the A-BAT was being considered for production, I was excited. Then the recession hit and the A-BAT hybrid project was killed – at least so it seemed.
According to AutoWeek, the A-BAT is alive and well.
A non-hybrid version might become a Scion model, while a “less-stylized hybrid version” awaits Toyota if final approval is achieved. With it’s car-like unibody frame, the A-BAT hybrid will probably share parts with the Prius and RAV4 according to AutoWeek.
I guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed once again.

I completely agree about the 4×4 thing too. This would make a killer car.
I am also hoping they keep it alive as well. Hopefully in a 4X4 or all wheel drive type with greater than 20MPG City rating too.
