The Hyundai Sonata hybrid, Hyundai's first hybrid, will be priced lower than both the Toyota Camry hybrid and the Ford Fusion hybrid.

As has been speculated for some time on this blog, the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid will be the cheapest hybrid sedan when it goes on sale in January, undercutting both the Toyota Camry hybrid and the Ford Fusion hybrid.

Starting at $26,545 including a $750 destination charge, according to InsideLine, the Sonata hybrid will be the cheapest hybrid sedan, but maybe not for long. Read more…

When the Hyundai Sonata hybrid goes on sale later this year, it will qualify for a $1300 tax credit according to Kicking Tires.

No word yet on Sonata hybrid pricing.

The upcoming Kia Optima hybrid, expected to hit dealerships sometime in 2011, will debut at the LA Auto Show. Unfortunately, not much new information is available.

Ultimately, the Kia versus Hyundai hybrid pricing question is still the real story here, and that story has yet to be told.

Hyundai will launch its first hybrid later this year, or in early 2011 and that hybrid will be followed be a dedicated hybrid in 2012, and a plug-in hybrid in 2013.
