SUV sales outperform compacts, hybrids
SUVs make a come back
Compared to last year US auto sales are up 17 percent and the biggest surprise in that turnaround is the increase in large SUV sales according to recent reports.
Large SUV sales have increased 19 percent. Compacts have picked up share, but sales are only up 14 percent. As of June, hybrid cars, on the other hand, have witnessed a 17.5 percent decline in sales.
Large SUV sales are good for automakers because it’s basically like “printing cash,” says Jim Hall at 2953 Analytics.
Nonetheless, since the gas spike of 2008 cars are still outselling trucks, so automakers – or consumers – appear to be learning how to redefine success in America using more efficient vehicle designs, at least somewhat more efficient designs. Of course, declining interest in hybrid cars during this same period of time demonstrates just how hard significant reductions in oil consumption will be to achieve.

Way to go on this essay, hepeld a ton.
I can’t understand how so many people choose to spend much more on gas with a large SUV.Hybrid car is one solution to this problems & Hybrids also provide a better mileage.
No surprise…..
Lower gas prices = Bigger Vehicles…
Gas prices look to stay relatively low for the next several years.
1. With the economy still being in poor shape, demand is still low.
2. Efforts in conservation and alternative energy over the next few years will probably offset increases in demand due to economic recovery.
As a result, global demand for oil will stay below peak global production levels, keeping gas prices relatively low….
Looks like the SUV is going to make a big comeback…
Thanks to the ever improving technology, hybrids perform at par with the normal ga-powered vehicles, if not better. Today fuel prices & pollution increase day by day. Hybrid car is one solution to this problems & Hybrids also provide a better mileage.
I had the opportunity to test-drive a Ford Fiesta, and it drove really fine. I didn’t like the design of the console, with cheap plastic, but the ride was surprisingly good for such a small car.

massive fail!
