Super-sized hybrid pickup trucks are nice, but…
Wake me when the Ford F150 hybrid is launched
Ford sells about 50,000 F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks every year, many used for legitimate commercial purposes. Therefore, the fact that Ford is partnering with Azure to develop a hybrid powertrain, including a plug-in version, as an option for buyers is, well, at least kind of good news.
Still, if the topic is Ford hybrid pickup trucks, the only story that matters is the Ford F-150 Series.
Nevertheless, if a few percent of F-Series Super Duty buyers opt for the hybrid version, that’s a good thing, as long as tax credits aren’t covering the entire cost. Speaking of tax credits, I’ve long felt that the small business vehicle tax credit should be rewritten in a way that makes the credit only available to those whom buy the most fuel efficient option — but that’s another story.
Unfortunately, considering the lackluster sales of GM’s hybrid pickup trucks, such as the Chevy Silverado hybrid, I doubt Ford will rush to hybrid pickup trucks anytime soon. In the interim, at least Ford’s EcoBoost pickups are starting to sell well.

I wonder is a hydraulic hybrid would make more sense for a heavy duty work truck.
It will have to be the F-150 hybrid since Ford cancelled the Ranger pickup. They put all their eggs in one basket now….
Their in trouble if gas climbs over $4.00 per gallon again….
