Study – Hybrids and plug-ins do reduce CO2 over life of vehicles
Hybrids and plug-ins are greener
Over the years many have suggested that battery powered cars are not really green because it takes more energy to produce such vehicles and this counters their reduced tailpipe emissions.
For years, Hybridcarblog has disagreed, citing a number of studies contradicting this dirty claim. And now there is a new study to support the greenness of hybrid and plug-in vehicles.
According to Ricardo, while hybrids and plug-ins do cause higher CO2 emissions during production, they still offer a lower CO2 footprint over the entire life cycle of these vehicles.
Still, the study demonstrates there is much room for improvement, and cites the growing use of renewable energy in the manufacturing of hybrids and plug-ins. Nevertheless, the idea that battery-powered vehicles are dirtier than conventional vehicles just isn’t supported by the science.

Smurf: I did call Fox News and it will be on at 8:00 p.m. tonight. I also called MSNBC and they said they were the ones behind the original story.
NONE or the above statements are true but one of the following might be worth discussing.
1. Any hybrid vehicle is more fuel efficient and produces less CO2 [and other stuff] than an equivalent none hybrid vehicle.
2. Hybrid vehicles currently cost more than an equivalent Internal Combustion Engine [ICE] vehicle, but this could change in the future.
3. Gasoline is $4/gallon now, but will son fall to $3.50/gallon. I believe this is more than it sold for last year but didn’t look up how much.
4. I like this blog and our host does and outstanding job of bringing new stuff to us to discuss.
Thank you
