Senate ensures hybrids and EVs will get louder
But more research is required
The Senate is planning to establish “performance requirements for an alert sound that allows blind and other pedestrians to reasonably detect a nearby electric or hybrid vehicle operating below the cross-over speed,” once it figures out just how much noise is needed. Therefore $2 million has been appropriated to sound out a solution.
Check out Straightline for a conversation with a blind man whom actually disagrees with the gist of this legislation. Interesting.

Now that my friend is really funny. Thank you very much for the best humor of the day.

Tom,
I think, as a collective, we’re a mild cheddar at best.
I sometimes wonder if we, the human race, are really the sharpest cheddar in the deli case.
Back in the 70′ we were all up in arms and worried about noise pollution. We even got the EPA and other government agencies involved to pass legislation to eliminate noise pollution. Please go to the below website for some additional background info.
http://www.epa.gov/air/noise.html
If you don’t have the time to go to the website, I have copied just a tiny bit of information to here so you can satisfy your craving for information.
“Learn more about the Clean Air Act, Noise Control Act of 1972, and the Quiet Communities Act of 1978:
Clean Air Act (Title IV – Noise Pollution)
The Noise Control Act of 1972 (42USC7641) (PDF) (21pp, 890k)
The Quiet Communities Act of 1978″
I guess we need to start writing to our Congressional representatives and remind them to cancel the above three pieces of legislation when we get new legislation in place huh?
I vote we elect the blind man – at least he wouldn’t have to look at some of our stupidity.
That’s it; stepping down off my soapbox now and going back to job hunting.

Um, is there a way to get my taxes back? I think the legislators should foot the bill themselves and ask for reimbursement.
