Japanese hybrid supplies improving

Had some errands to run this morning that took me near a number of auto dealerships, so I thought I’d check out the supply situation of Japanese hybrid cars, particularly the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight.

Sure supplies aren’t at the levels they were before gas prices spiked, but they are still the best I’ve seen in months.

I stopped by 4 different dealerships, 2 Honda and 2 Toyota, and was able to find a selection of hybrids at each dealership, although Toyota seemed better stocked overall. For example, Prii were available new or used and in various colors and packages at both Toyota dealerships. On the other hand, the selection at both Honda dealerships was more limited, so you might not have as many color options on a Honda hybrid.

Additionally, other hybrid models, such as the Honda CR-Z hybrid and Toyota Camry hybrid, were also easy to find.

Overall, the hybrid selection was surprising, particularly for the Prius. If I were in the market, I’d definitely give some 4th of July Holiday car shopping a try. In fact, I might head back out tomorrow to get a feel for whether any holiday deals apply to these hybrids.
