Nissan Altima hybrid is dead. To be replaced by the Ellure hybrid?

The Nissan Ellure hybrid could be a fine replacement for the Nissan Altima hybrid, which will phase out heading out into 2011.

A more Elluring hybrid than the Altima?

Nissan moving to its proprietary hybrid drive?

The Nissan Altima hybrid is dead. Of course, since the Altima hybrid was developed using leased Toyota hybrid technology, that’s not really surprising, especially since Nissan now developed its own proprietary hybrid drive currently manifested in the Infiniti M35 hybrid.

Moreover, the possibility of an Altima hybrid replacement was already revealed at the LA Auto Show.

While details regarding the Ellure hybrid in LA were sparse, it is a  match, at least in terms of size, to replace the Altima hybrid. Even better, the Ellure hybrid is unique, a characteristic that has worked well for the Toyota Prius.

Thus far, Nissan has confirmed the death of the Altima hybrid, but has not provided any details regarding any replacement, including the Ellure. Still, it seems a perfect fit.
