New Infiniti hybrid, EV by 2013
Expanding Nissan’s battery powered portfolio
Possibly by late 2012, Nissan will add a new compact hybrid to the Infiniti lineup based on the Etherea concept and its new hybrid powertrain, currently found in the Infiniti M hybrid.
Likewise, Infiniti will add a Leaf-based electric sedan to its offerings.
The new compact hybrid will be offered as either a 2013 or 2014 model and is set to fall below G series pricing and compete with the BMW 1-Series according to AutoWeek. Based on the Etherea concept, the front-wheel drive hybrid is expected to sport a supercharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 245 hp.
The new Infiniti EV plug-in is also expected to launch as either a 2013 or 2014 model. It will be based on the Nissan Leaf and use the same 5-seat dimensions, but offer a more luxurious interior and a unique exterior.
