Nearing the precipice of no fracking choice

War between Israel and Iran would be good for big energy, the military and a new Congress, but it probably wouldn't be good for the environment. It could be a real fracking problem.

Saving the military, covertly?

War is a good way to change US energy policy

I believe science demonstrates there is both good and bad fracking of natural gas. Using smart regulations, fracking can be environmentally safe. But when money or even worse, necessity, is the sole driver of energy companies, environmental disasters are almost inevitable.

Thus, as the tensions between Israel and Iran further escalate, the Arab spring could quickly turn into a complete fracking nightmare.

If you’re a conspiracy theorist. These days are again ripe with story lines, particularly regarding iron triangles and military industrial complexes.

The US military — one the most powerful industries in the world — is facing drastic cuts, as US energy companies are running out of ripe territories to secure new energies, all while the US economy continues to languish.

Some claim renewables and CO2 caps are the solution, but I’ll bet the military, big energy, and most US politicians don’t believe such a path is a viable interim solution. So, what’s the answer?

What if there were no choice?

What if problems in the Persian Gulf doubled the price of oil overnight, seemingly permanently, as the US was again sucked into another conflict?

America would have no fracking choice but to build up its military presence in the Middle East, and to frack for natural gas with reckless abandonment, whether environmentally safe or not. The environment just wouldn’t matter.

No fracking choice. That sounds like the perfect solution for the military, big energy and many politicians.

Hopefully, I’m just one of those crazy conspiracy theorists. Still, some investments in key fracking technologies might be wise these days.
