Does GM need to meet its Chevy Volt 2011 sale’s targets?
Over-promised, under-delivered?
Over the past few months, GM has insisted it will meet its 2011 Chevy Volt sale’s targets despite ongoing sluggish sales. But with only 2 months left in the year, GM has only sold 5003 Volts, which means GM needs to sell 5000 Volts in the next two months to reach its goals.
But what if they don’t?
To be honest, I think GM will hit their target. If not, then GM needs to clean up their corporate communication’s department, as you can’t continually make guarantees that can’t be met. It’s just bad PR.
Moreover, if GM misses their 2011 goals, it’s time for a little less ego and a little more honest transparency. Ultimately, the only thing left to be inferred from GM’s missed targets will be some sort of a production problem. There just won’t be any other excuses left.

Chevy is running commercials that explicitly highlight the electric + gas fuel capability.
GM is getting there. They are starting to deliver to some of us that have been on the waiting list.
Just received word that production on my Volt is complete and it is being released for shipping. It should see it in about two weeks. The turn around time from getting an order number to production completion was right around four weeks.
That’s at least ONE that will show up on the November sales numbers.
