Ron - I think in small vehicles, batteries can work, at least in some fashion, such as hybrids, including fuel cell hybrids. Such a powertrain might also one day work in a 48 ft truck. However, we're no where close to such a reality, and the idea of pure battery powered trucks seem ludicrous at this point in time.

What do you think about the Pickens plan for such trucks?

I don't think that battery powered cars and trucks will work.I have to see a 48 ft truck going cross country to deliver goods on battery power .I can't keep a good set of batteries in my flashlight let alone drive cross country towing to s of goods .battery powered cars and trucks is not cost affective nor can they do the work of any gas or desiel engine .Sorry battery power is for phones and kiddie toys.
