Chevy Volt takes Green Car of the Year
Volt takes the green at this year’s LA Auto Show
Well, as I predicted the Chevy Volt has picked up the Green Car of the Year Award here at the LA Auto Show. The Volt certainly seems a lot more deserving than when the Chevy Tahoe hybrid won the award a few years ago.
Anyway, while the Volt will be a great vehicle for changing perceptions of both GM and plug-in vehicles, now comes the hard part. Sales.
At some point in time the Volt, or at least Voltecs, will need to move millions of units every year to mean anything outside of marketing – something even the Prius nor Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive has yet accomplished.
Does the Volt have that kind of capability?
I’m not sure. It’s a pretty monumental task, but I sure hope so.
