Cadillac plug-in hybrid almost official

Cadillac almost set to produce a plug-in SUV based off both the Chevy Volt and the defunct Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid.

Converj plug-in concept on ice of now.

Based on both the Volt and the Vue plug-in hybrid?

Some fairly interesting news coming out of GM today regarding its plug-in program. According to MotorTrend, GM is just shy of officially approving a Cadillac SRX-based plug-in hybrid.

Most noteworthy is the possibility that both Chevy Volt and Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid technology could be used in this new plug-in.

Unfortunately, the Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid never become a reality, but what was interesting about that powertrain was that it was a plug-in based off GM’s dual mode hybrid architecture. Thus, this new SRX could be a hybrid of both Voltec and dual mode plug-in hybrid technology according to MotorTrend’s report.

For now, however, the SRX plug-in has not been officially approved by GM’s board – maybe a NAIAS debut is in the works?

Anyway, I still thought the Converj was a hot looking contender for Voltec technology.
