American trucks rule America
As red, white and blue as it gets
Essentially, every foreign brand saw their sales get hammered in August, and while US automakers also experienced declining sales, sales of pickup trucks continue to post gains.
Without big gas guzzling pickup trucks, the Big 3 would be seeing a lot of red.
Cars.com has put together a pretty scary Top Ten sales chart for August. Outside of Big 3 pickup trucks, only the Hyundai Sonata posted a gain in monthly sales.
Obviously, there were no hybrid cars on the list.
No wonder there is a double standard in CAFE regulations.

Recently I came to know that the Jeep Wrangler made a better improvement in selling in August. That nice product made an improved development as no motor company compete with it.
Ouch, Noz. Fortunately, sedans and cars still achieve a greater percentage of overall sales than SUVs and trucks. Progress is being made, unfortunately, its taking place in baby steps.
No kidding, Larry, but by most accounts the new Sonata offers the most sedan for the money, so i’m not that surprised, especially with the recalls and negative press that Toyota has faced this year. Nevertheless, those are still incredible numbers. I hope the hybrid Sonata can offer the same kind of buzz, relatively at least, in the hybrid segment.
Wow! what’s going on with the Hyundai Sonata?
Didn’t you mean idiots rule America?
