Rent a Leaf at Hertz in 2011

Not sure if an electric car is right for you? Rent a Nissan Leaf at Hertz before buying.Rent one before buying one

Hertz will begin renting out Nissan Leaf electric cars in 2011 in cities where enough charging infrastructure exists. The Leaf will join a number of hybrid cars that Hertz carries in its 'Green Collection'.

Great idea Nissan and Hertz!!!!!!!!!!! I'd rent one just to see if it's a car I would consider buying.

this should also provide an interesting angle for car-sharing programs, which will also provide a cool way for potential EV buyers to trial an EV.

I hope they'll be easier to lease than a Prius.

I've never been able to rent one so far as they have always been unavailable on the day I tried to reserve one...

it doesn't sound like it's going to be - only where infrastructure supports them. i guess we'll have to see what that means.

A footnote to my earlier comment. I'd rent one, assuming that Hertz doesn't take advantage of the situation and charge an arm and a leg to rent a Leaf.

i'm certain they will charge a hefty premium, unfortunately. they do for hybrids and that's why its hard to find them at rental agencies. the extra costs keep renters away.

Wow, hat would be great. That means have your own test drive before actually buying the car.

Um... Don't people usually rent cars for out-of-town trips? Seems to me that the Leaf would be particularly Ill-suited for such a task.
