Something else with which the Chinese can kill Americans (you know toxic drywall, melamine in food, lead and cadmium in toys/jewelry, etc.). Probably will explode if it gets bumped by another auto. Wait for any others but Chinese!!!
I doubt you'll see such activity from Chinese automakers. Selling in the US is purely about pride for Chinese automakers.
The scary thing is that the Chinese don't really need the US market. The Chinese market will quickly become much more important than the US market.
The real question is going to become, can US automakers compete with the likes of BYD in China?
Yeah, I have to agree about waiting to see what happens with these cars. I'd love to see a 200 mile range EV (however, with a lower sticker price), but China isn't exactly known for covering safety issues before releasing a product and boardrooms in this country generally don't give a rat's ass what happens to the general public since the boardroom members will never buy these vehicles.
Let's make sure we don't have another Ford Pinto on our hands here...
yeah, i certainly wouldn't rush into buying chinese vehicles, but I have to admit that i think BYD will be an extremely successful automaker.
