California cities battle to lure Tesla
And the EV wars are on, kind ofJust when it seemed the city of Downey, CA was a shoe-in to become the next electric vehicle assembly plant for Tesla, Long Beach stepped up the stakes.
A few weeks ago, Tesla and Downey appeared to agree on a $8.9 million deal to set up an assembly plant.
Yesterday, however, the city of Long Beach approved a plan to offer Tesla $28 million to build an assembly plant in that city.
Will it all come down to the Benjamins?

Why not build both? Ultimately there is going to be demand for these vehicles beyond the borders of California.
Now of course there are all sorts of business model questions and feasibility studies involved but supply is also going to be a major hurdle.
Building both would be great.
Who knows. Tesla might have different ideas for each facility. One might be vehicle assembly, another might be battery production. Without question Elon Musk is a pretty smart guy, so I'm sure they have a solid business plan leading the way forward.
