Did Ford get burned in automaker bailout?
The Mercury Mariner hybridIf you analyze the total automaker bailout, according to recent research, US taxpayers are contributing $12,200 for every vehicle GM sells, and $7,600 for every vehicle Chrysler sells.
So the study asks, are we punishing 'smarter' automakers while rewarding the bad decisions of other automakers?
Certainly, Ford gained market share thanks to the fact that it did not accept bailout money. So, was Ford's gain in market share enough reward, or were Ford's 'smart' moves relatively negated by the bailout?
If so, how about some additional hybrid tax credits for Ford's hybrid cars?

Ford did just fine.
Their stock has grown from $1 per share in 2008 to nearly $10 per share today. GM and Chrysler don't even have publicly traded stock.
Ford avoided bankrupcty and they are making vehicles that are more appealing to consumers, including the Fusion and the new Taurus.
Things are looking pretty good at Ford right now.
Can't argue with you on those points.
