Toyota challenged again, at least legally, on hybrid technology
Built with the patents of others? For years now Toyota's relative success with hybrid cars has been met with little challenge from other automakers. Toyota is simply the king of hybrids.
However, the hybrid king has been challenged a number of times in court over the years for violating patents used in elements of the Hybrid Synergy Drive.
Today, US trade officials announced they will open an investigation into whether Toyota violated patents owned by Paice LLC.
According to an AP article Toyota has responded that it "has many patents on the hybrid technology and believes that it has strong defenses against all of Paice's claims and that it will prevail in the ITC proceeding."

yes and Toyota LOST a major case recently, its appealing but if it keeps loosing couple big cases then a % of each of its hybrid profits will go to pay the rightful heirs of this technology, not Toyota - it seems......hummm
Id still purchase a Toyota over any other vehicle, yes they are incredibly boring vehicles but they last and last and last with little maintenance :)
yeah, i guess we'll see, but i'm sure that toyota hedged its moves regarding these patents a long time ago.
bean-counting is an auto industry specialty.
of course, sometimes even giants tumble.
PAICE LLC and suposed engineers/scientist such as Alex Severnisky and Therodore Laouckes, are just a bunch of fake engineers with lawyers and executives making patents and they really have not shown "prove to practice or make to practice" on the inventions claimed and they are nothing but opportunist trying to get cheap money. Shame on the management and board of director of Paice, to be such a lousy contributor to the hybrid technology and industry. Paice does not even have a single product and they are doing this just to get publicity. They have never even shown a working proof of concept. If you see their web, there is no product or even project demosntrated.
Compaies like Paice are taking our country down.
isn't this the same company, now under a different name, or owned by a different company, that has been trying to sue Toyota for several years now?
