I am pleased that we continue to see foreign car companies jumping on the HEV and PHEV bandwagon.

While I would like to see more of this from American car companies, at some point it becomes irrelevant.

Once the foreign car companies produce the vehicles, the American companies will have to get on board simply to be competitive.

Well, it's more about posturing than reality right now.

Inevitably, it's going to come down to cost-effectiveness, and I don't think any automaker has that angle completely figured out.

In my opinion, some external event is the wild card in the revolution of the automobile, as nothing breeds innovation like necessity.

Right now, however, we're still living in some distorted fairy tale land in terms of the auto industry.

While I would love to see a compact plug in in 2010 for UNDER 20k.....it does not seem likely :(...no matter what it is, if its not drive out under 20k....it will be a slow seller for the increasing compact sales niche in USA I think
Only way around it all, is to just wait, get a loaded one owner Prius III in 2011....would be great car at drive out of 16500 :)
