Hybrid fuel economy killers and keepers

Over the years I've heard many a story about how the wrong oil, the wrong tire pressure, the wrong tires themselves, or the wrong ethanol blended gasoline caused serious drops in fuel economy for some hybrid owners.
What issues or products have killed your hybrid's fuel economy? Conversely, what has increased your hybrid's fuel economy?

Don't most hybrid owners simply take their hybrids into the dealership for servicing to avoid these problems?
Yeah, but I don't always give service departments credit for always doing the right thing. And, from stories i've heard, many dealers aren't very competent regarding hybrids.
Then there are do-it-yourselfers, etc.
I always go to the dealer, but I have shopped for tires for my hybrid outside the dealership, for instance.
Likewise, in some areas higher ethanol blends, such as E10, can be cheaper to buy.
Having to go to a dealer for maintenance is the #1 reason for not buying a hybrid.
even though i own a hybrid, i kind of have to agree with you john, although i do like my current dealer compared to my old dealer.
however, there are new hybrid garages opening in larger cities. i haven't used one of these alternatives yet, but it does provide some hope.
