Prius: Biggest rare metal guzzler
Soon to face a rare metal shortage?By next year, the Prius hybrid car could help Toyota sell 1 million hybrid cars per year, if there are enough rare metals available for such an output.
According to reports, the supplies of rare metals needed for the electric motors and batteries of hybrids is beginning to tighten. And, eventually, China - the biggest supplier of such metals - is going to reduce its exports. Fortunately, however, new mines in Canada and the US are set to open.

This is a great opportunity for a company to generate new ideas of materials that can be used for hybrid cars. Someone should develop a polymer that is similar to the plastic used on most cars today. We should also begin to recycle old cars as much as possible to help avoid these metal shortages in the future. http://www.cavs.msstate.edu/projects/ecocar/
This is a great opportunity to really think about recycling old, unused cars to help provide materials to make new cars. This will also help avoid metal shortages in the future. http://www.cavs.msstate.edu/projects/ecocar/
