One step closer to a Corolla hybrid
Auris hybrid to begin production next yearToyota has confirmed that it will begin producing a full hybrid version of the Auris in England in mid-2010.
‘With today’s announcement, Toyota has taken a significant step forward in ensuring that full hybrids become more accessible to a wider range of customers. Such efforts are crucial if we are to see more low-carbon vehicles on European roads,’ said Tadashi Arashima, CEO and President, TME.
And, since the Auris is built on the same platform as the Corolla, a Corolla hybrid is only a decision away.
Would a Corolla hybrid be a good addition to Toyota's family of hybrid cars?

I am so sick of hearing about so many cool and different cars elsewhere that we don't get here.
Seriously...we are so far behind in so many ways living in this country that it's not even funny.
Every time I leave the US and visit somewhere else, I get the overwhelming understanding that we are getting screwed...and royally.
I really am sick of it.
That's true. Cheap gas and short term thinking has really retarded the American auto consumer and the American auto industry
we live in a capitalistic system gone haywire / were historically NO rules meant 'good governance' per the 5% white elite republican, bash every idea thats 'green' world / its further supported by the fundamentalist movement of which Carl Rove was a key architect and frankly was a stunning brilliant move that actually made the poor and middle class white folks think that the 5% elite cared for them! omg
yep US has been totally upside down the rest of the world for 9 years.
PS i think Toyota Corolla hybrid would be AWESOME ;)
Anon: Bush sort of re-invented Capitalism. In *his* version, the CEOs get to keep all the profits and the taxpayers get to pay for the losses. Sounds fair, right? Har har har. Of course, it doesn't help much that the GOP voting base consists of people who think the world is only 6,000 years old and will be destroyed any day now by the Four Horsemen.
But... I digress...
Yeah, a Corolla hybrid would be awesome. I imagine it might be priced about the same as an Insight-II, since the base Corolla is a relatively inexpensive car.
I'd also love to see a Scion hybrid.
