Honda CR-Z hybrid hits Japan in February

Two new Honda hybrid cars will be available in Japan next year, but updates for the US market are still unclear. And in the US when?

Two new Honda hybrid cars are coming, well, at least to Japan according to AutoWeek.

Honda has confirmed that it will begin selling the Honda CR-Z hybrid in Japan in February. Additionally, before the end of 2010 Honda will also launch the Honda Fit hybrid in Japan. Unfortunately, however, Honda did not offer any updates on when these vehicles would make it to the US.

Regardless, it seems the CR-Z hybrid should be in the States by mid 2010. Unfortunately, it seems the Fit hybrid won't be in the states until late 2010 or even early 2011.

I just hope they don't muck it up like they did the insight, and it comes out looking like another Toyota product.

Well, it's going to look pretty much like the picture above. Obviously, pricing is going to be the deal breaker, as this hybrid is to cost more than the Insight. It will, however, look much cooler than the Insight.

Honda confirmed the CR-Z will be on sale in the US by the end of 2010, its on the official CR-Z minisite. As far as the price goes, one Honda source says it will be "significantly lower than current hybrid offerings" which to me translates to a $20-25K price point.

I'd imagine that pricing range is probably right.
