Higher insurance rates for hybrid drivers coming?

Hybrid drivers to pay more for insurance?Hybrid drivers get more tickets

Those that drive hybrid vehicles drive 25 percent more than those that don't drive hybrids according to analysis by Quality Planning. Likewise, hybrid owners also receive more tickets for driving violations. Even worse, fixing hybrids after collisions costs 13 percent more than non-hybrids.

Still, Cars.com notes, "Before we jump to conclusions, though, let’s keep a few things in mind. Hybrid drivers tend to skew toward upper-middle class urban dwellers. People who live in cities tend to accrue more moving violations, and, they likely have the disposable income to take more long-distance trips in their cars."

we have 2 cars. since buying the hybrid we drive it everywhere we. we drive the other car as little as possible. we don't drive more miles we have just shifted the miles to the hybrid. its the car we drive when we go somewhere together.

I would like to know WHERE that information came from and WHO PAID for the study/ data collection. The thought that green minded energy conscious people receive more tickets is on the surface preposterous to me.
Who among you has seen a Prius III 'racing' past you on the highway?? ha
Who has ever seen a Prius driver run a red light ?? Possible ? yes , statistically likely ? Dont think so.
Ill wager the Insurance Industry has paid for data to meet its needs -- to charge higher premiums knowing that more hybrids will be on the road every year and they cant think of any other way to justify going to their respective State legislators and demanding a Insurance rate increases, because most states are seeing a DECREASE in auto losses!

I just know I am going to get into trouble for this post.

While in California recently I noticed that Prius owners do not 'jack rabbit' off the line nor do they rush [drive fast] to where ever they are going.

Is it possible that other people are tailgating and hence have more rear end collisions AND is it also possible that some other drivers get frustrated and run into Prisus owners more frequently?

I am guessing but I don't think it is any of the above. I think it is because most Prisus owners drive more miles.

Interesting theory.

SUV's intially had very low insurance rates. When they became so popular, all of a sudden, there was statistical data showing SUV's caused more damage in an accident and insurance premiums went up.

Coincidence?????
