Honda Executive Vice President Koichi Kondo has confirmed that the Honda CR-Z hybrid will go on sale early next year and that the new hybrid will cost more than $20,000. Sometime thereafter, according to Kondo, the Honda Fit hybrid will follow.

Toyota sells Lexus sedan hybrids already. Why cannot Honda?

I'll be at the showroom waiting for the CR-Z. I'm anxious to see what kind of mileage it's going to get. I'd buy a sporty two seater for my commute to work in a heartbeat. I'm currently an Accord owner. Have bought four of them over the past 16 years. They haven't been trouble free but the service has far exceeded my expectations. The customer service is one of the main reasons I keep on coming back to Honda.

Lexus hybrids and the CR-Z have very little in common. You're talking luxury sedans and, basically, a sporty Insight.

What they have in common is that they are SPORTY sedans.

And what is the price difference?

The sporty GS hybrid costs $56,000. The CR-Z is going to cost $20 something.

I just don't see how there is any comparison.

And don't forget the mileage difference. The CR-Z will have MPG number in the 40's where as the Lexus GS hybrid is only in the 20's.

The Lexus, soon to be released, HS 250h, estimated MSRP at $32000 is closer to the Hybrid CR-Z. But even that is comparing apples to oranges.

most important, however, this will be honda's sexiest hybrid. if honda packages this vehicle correctly, it could be much more exciting than the insight.

I'm more likely to buy an Insight or a Fit Hybrid as my next car, but I am glad to see that Honda will be offering a total of four hybrids.

I wonder if the CR-z will have the Insight's clever software? Will it get better gas mileage than the ill-fated Accord Hybrid?
