3 Hybrids up for European Car of the Year
Gaining ground in Europe?Hybrid cars probably won't become major players in Europe until they are offered in diesel versions. Nonetheless, three hybrids are up for the 2010 Car of the Year in Europe. The new third generation Toyota Prius, Lexus RX450h, and Honda Insight were all given a nod in Europe this year.

Gosh, it should not be a huge problem for Toyota. Why have not they done it already? Perhaps, it is because the largest markets are Japan and US, where diesel has not been a trump card for years. Hopefully, this is going to change.
Toyota has been a bit of a laggard on diesel technology, but as some of the European automakers start rolling out diesel hybrids, I'll bet Toyota will start getting serious about diesel hybrids.
How cool would this be --
a Diesel hybrid SCION IQ ?? Bet it would get 45/65 MPG !
at this point, i'd be happy with a hybrid scion. likewise, i'd love to see any diesel hybrid from Toyota.
