Made in America to suck foreign oil

I buy hybrid cars to fight foreign oil dependency. Does buying American absolve the use of foreign oil?Buy American or eat your import?

My father is a retired union worker. His entire life he's bought nothing but Fords and he would never consider buying a foreign car. Thus, he doesn't think much of my Toyota hybrid.

However, despite the endless problems we had with almost every single Ford my father bought - although his recent Ford purchases have been significantly more reliable - I still considered a Ford for my last auto purchase.

Unfortunately, other than SUVs that I don't care for, Ford didn't have an offering for my fuel efficient motives. Thus, I went with Toyota, again. In fact, I've never bought an American car, but I would.

Today, "The Made In America" bus tour will kick off in Michigan to bring awareness to the plight of the US auto industry. Yet, I cannot help but wonder, how much FOREIGN oil will this American bus tour consume? Also, I can't help but wonder why so many of these "Made in America" folks seem so indifferent to the foreign oil they guzzle in their American autos.

Moreover, why can't these "Made in America" people converge these two fronts of domestic autos and foreign oil? To me "Made in America to end Foreign Oil Dependency" could sell. Is it just me?

Indigo Incarnates

The three times that I've purchased new cars in the past 15 years I've noticed that there just aren't good, reliable American cars. I'm glad that Ford seems to be changing that finally.

What's more, the biggest hypocrites are the douchebags who go around in their SUVs with "SUPPORT THE TROOPS" stickers on them or "PROUD TO BE AMERICAN" crap.

I don't care what country I live in or where I am from, I'll never support a regime that does nothing but take, lie, steal, and screw over others. Call it America, call it China, call it France. It makes no difference to me.

Unfortunately, I live in the US at a time when this is the type of country it is....an imperial power. I pains me to no end that my tax dollars are being wasted on murdering others.

It pains me even more when I visit other auto blogs and assholes abound can't see beyond their penises filled with testosterone and fake conservative fear to cover their own male-whore insecurities.

I'll never buy a current American car because I'll never support an industry that has support a regime that now sucks 40 cents of every tax dollar I bleed out of my ass to fund nothing but murdering military projects.

On top of that, why on earth would I put up with substandard crap?

No offense to your father Dahc...but the unions can go screw themselves. If they really cared and had any where-with-all, they'd look further into the future more than a couple of years down the road and encourage and FORCE the auto manufactures to build products that are sustainable, better for the environment, and better quality.

Pissing away our environment is a direct reflection on how truly little we give a shit about our own families and childrens' future. Any other excuse these wood-be parents and what not give is utter bull.

Noz-

No offense taken. My father spent most of his time in the union complaining about union management. I don't think he hated the union itself, but he certainly hated his union's leaders.

My favorite stickers, however, were the 'No blood for oil stickers' that I sometimes saw on SUVs during the buildup and launch of the Iraq War.

How can people be in such ignorant denial?

the sticker is fine, as long as its not on a guzzler. by your name i'm assuming its on a hybrid. that would be logical. putting such a sticker on a great big gas-guzzler would not.
