Some deals on GM's hybrid SUVs

A good time to purchase a large hybrid SUV?If you have to...

I'm sorry. I know there are some people out there that actually utilize a large SUV for moving lots of people around and/or some towing. Still, I just have a hard time getting behind such vehicles.

Nonetheless, if you are a fan of large SUVs, it just became easier to buy something more fuel efficient. GM is now offering some great financing deals on the Chevy Tahoe hybrid.

So, if you must have a large SUV, please make it the hybrid version.

there's at least another category, but i'm not sure how to define. anyway, there are many of young, single people i see in my neighborhood also driving these vehicles. maybe dipshits? since none of them have any need for the vehicle other than feeling BIG.

read about the tgechnology, learn how it works, then perhaps drive

THEN you can post a comment with some value

i've driven, and driven in, the tahoe hybrid and escalade hybrid numerous times. i've also had numerous discussions with GM's hybrid development team, and am confident i know quite a bit about GM's dual mode hybrid technology.

so what was your point?

i'm not having any problems with my self image.

are u? is that why you have to drive a big vehicle...to fix some other problem?

or do you actually need one?

My previous 2002 Tahoe had 145,000 miles, only had to replace 2 power windows. There were no other problems and it still runs great.
So I bought a 2009 Hybrid. I would say 90% of the SUV owners don't need it but they drive it because it's a fad. I tow 4500 lb. boat with it and also I use it to haul heavy loads of beverages. Tahoe Hybrid is the only SUV that works for my daily use. I tried cargo vans but they were uncomfortable and did not have the traction to pull boat from the ramp. I tried Toyota mini van(3500 tow capacity) to pull 2000 lb. boat but it only burned out the transmission. I drive on sandy beaches to surf fish and the Tahoe is like a tank it never gets stuck. I have pulled out several BMW X5 and Jeep Cherokees that were stuck in the soft sand.
The Hybrid Tahoe that I drive is quiet and it actually gets 20 plus mpg in combined Washington DC driving and highway driving.
The cup holder doesn't hold mugs like the older ones and it makes mess. The GPS is not updated and disappointing. The family entertainment system (DVD player) that came with it is a waste of money since my kid is in college and no one will be using it.
Best of all it's American Made.
How many Japanese cars that you know of that will withstand being rear ended several times and backed into on the front end several times and has little or no damages. All other cars that ran into me had major damages.
Tahoe Hybrid is what GM did to take a good car and made it better.

last anon-

will you be able to recover the extra hybrid costs via fuel savings?

Dahcredyns, recovery of cost is not necessarily what people care about thats what disposable income is for. they can spend it on whatever they want thats the beauty of capitalism. We do depend on a lot of foreign oil but the capital costs involved with a lot of renewable technology is huge, oil is simply the most economic way to run vehicles at this point. Once it becomes prohibitively expensive we can look into shale oil, which alaska and canada have a lot of but the income and price elasticity of demand are also somewhat prohibitive.

not enough people care, however.

still, people are going to buy what's cost-effective and that's an issue that has to be resolved.

but why oil tars and sands, why not tap into our massive supplies of natural gas?
