PUMA: Pure joke or possibilities?
Now that's outside of the boxCan a two-wheeled, two-seat electric vehicle change the face of transportation? Probably not any time soon. Still, it's nice to see GM investigate something so, well, small.
Perhaps more interesting than the vehicle, "The Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility, or PUMA, project also would involve a vast communications network that would allow vehicles to interact with each other, regulate the flow of traffic and prevent crashes from happening," according to AP reports.
Capable of 35 mpg and 35 mile range, the PUMA is ready to be launched today, however, no production date has been set, nor have any cost details been released.

I like how they (the Today Show) said it would be 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of a car. What Car? A Smart car or Tesla. There's a pretty big difference there. I still think its too little, too late (no pun intended)...
The way I heard it, it was 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of ownership, but i didn't see the Today Show.
I do think that small, unique efficient vehicles need to become part of the mix. Still, they won't be viable unless they are dirt cheap or fit well into a sharing program, much like the Velib bike program in Paris, or the new Smart Share in Austin, Texas.
The idea of pushing these vehicles on college campuses is a good one - its a great place for the reeducation of the auto consumer.
Prius Killer...
LOL!
