New Toyota hybrid pickup shelved

Toyota hybrid pickup trucks coming soon? Nope. Not the time for a new hybrid pickup truck

Recently, Toyota was investigating the possibility of turning its Toyota ABAT hybrid pickup concept into a production vehicle. However, partially due to declining pickup sales, according to MotorTrend, Toyota is shelving the hybrid pickup for now.

This was a bad idea. The U.S. market is ripe for a small pickup that gets decent mileage hybrid or not.

This was a different kind of pickup, so other hybrid pickups might still be possible from Toyota.

I liked this hybrid pickup as well, and called for it to be built when I first saw it at its debut. I'll bet there will be some derivation of this vehicle in the future.
