Honda reports first week of Insight hybrid sales

Honda Insight hybrid vehicles went on sale last week, but supplies of the Insight hybrid were still limited.569 units sold in first week

If you checked out your local Honda dealer last week hoping to purchase an Insight hybrid, you might have been disappointed. While Honda did begin delivery of the Insight, availability was limited. Nonetheless, Honda did record the sale of 569 Insights last week.

Interestingly, Honda Civic hybrid sales were down 20.8% in March compared to last year - a significant decline, but not as significant as most other Honda models.

This has now become a good time to buy Honda Hybrids.... Civic or Insight.

With a large supply of Civic Hybrids on the lots, and only a few Insights, dealers are now offering great deals on Civic Hybrids. I went into the dealer talking about an Insight and he sold me a Civic Hybrid for $2000 less than his best offer for an Insight....

Hard to argue against those kinds of economics. I would have done the same thing.

so size and mileage wise, how does CIVIC hybrid compare to INSIGHT ??

mileage wise they are about the same. in terms of size, the Insight is a hatchback, so they don't match up perfectly in a size comparison.

I live in the chicago land area and went to see the insight. They sayed that with tax and everything they will give it for 22,000 for the base and also said that if you want to civic hybrid base that they will also take off 2,000 from it which would be with tax about 23,000. So its not a bad deal but i also went to a toyota dealership and they said the pruis is going to be for the base with tax 22,000 which was a hell of a deal in you compare it with the civic and insight!

Given the very small difference in fuel economy, I'd probably go with an Insight-II since I prefer hatchbacks to sedans. But if a really good deal on a HCH came my way, I'd probably take it.
