2010 Third Gen Prius for $20,750

2010 third generation Toyota Prius pricing. What a deal?

Last week rumors leaked out of Japan that Toyota was going to price the third generation Toyota Prius much lower than most were anticipating. According to the latest reports, Toyota will sell the base 2010 Prius for $20,750, at least in Japan. A fully loaded third generation Prius will cost about $33,110.

Moreover, Toyota will continue to sell the current Prius, with an interior redesign, for $19,130.

Again, these are the translated US prices based on the Japanese price. Neither these prices, nor US pricing, has been officially confirmed by Toyota.

I wanna wait for the more fun cheaper and better mileage HONDA HYBRID FIT :) ( and you will be able to get cruise and not have to pay 2400.oo for that 'luxury'ouch)

well, if the fit uses the same hybrid drive as the Insight, then the Prius will achieve better fuel economy than the fit, especially in congestion - not to mention a lot more room.

still, i think the fit hybrid will be a fantastic vehicle and i hope it includes an updated honda hybrid drive.

Indigo Incarnates

My time horizon for getting a new car is 2012. So by then, there will hopefully be the first tweak on the Insight-II, an el cheapo Prius-II, and a hybrid Fit all in the $20k price point. What a deal! :)

There is no way I'd ever pay $33k for a Prius. The Camry and Fusion hybrids are much nicer cars and cost $5k less.

My preference for el cheapo hybrids would be: 1. hybrid fit, 2. Econo Prius-II, Insight-II. However, the only "sure bet" right now is the Insight-II since it's available right now.

That $33,000 for the Prius is the top level, which I'm sure is going to include many bells and whistles neither the Camry or Fusion hybrids will offer, such as Park Assist.

Still, if the third gen base Prius can MSRP at $20,750, I'd have a hard time passing it up.
