Yaris hybrid coming, Auris hybrid possible

Toyota is going to bring a number of cheap hybrid vehicles to market, including the Toyota Yaris hybrid and probably the Auris and Corrola hybrid.Yaris hybrid confirmed

Small Toyota hybrid cars are coming.

Akihiko Otsuka, chief engineer of the redesigned, third-generation Toyota Prius stated, ""We are developing a low-priced hybrid vehicles like Honda's Insight. We are going to compete by expanding our hybrid-vehicle lineup to smaller hybrids, in the class of the Vitz [sold in Japan] and Yaris.".

Likewise, Otsuka noted that the current Prius will now share a great number of parts with the Toyota Auris while confirming that the Auris - the Corolla platform in the US - was designed so that it could carry a hybrid system.

Cheap hybrid vehicles are on the way! Unfortunately, don't expect any of these new hybrids until at least 2011.

So, in 2011 GM is going produce maybe 20,000 Chevy Volts and Toyota is going to be producing millions of hybrids, many of which will cost under $20,000.

And why are we bailing GM out?

I know GM is trying to think big, which I think they should, but it seems obvious the Volt is not enough.

Toyota will have both low priced hybrids, plug-in hybrids and EVs and GM has the Volt?

Maybe we should make Ford absorb GM since they are the only US automaker that seems to have a clue.

It is great that people are thinking about the environment and working to make the world a safer place. Not only car and trucks are starting to become eco-friendly but dump trucks have come a long way since the earlier models. We are learning and expanding and coming up with a wide range of safer more effective vehicles for the work force. I think it is great that many auto manufacturers are turning to hybrid vehicles to protect the environment and now they are even using hybrid dump trucks.

Couldn't agree more. Those big dumb trucks have a huge environmental footprint so cleaning up that trash - pun intended - is a great endeavor.
