Obama's Auto Team: Foreign-made non-hybrids
One Prius in the bunchOf the eight members so far named to the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry and their 10 senior aides, two own American vehicles according to the DetroitNews. Just one owns a hybrid.
I don't know if that means that Detroit is in trouble, but this news bothers me nonetheless.
It reminds me of when Barack Obama told constituents at a town hall meeting that gas-guzzling SUVs were bad, and then he left the meeting in a gas-guzzling SUV. Of course, not long after he purchased a Ford Escape hybrid.
Most of these people are professional politicians, or people whom live off the political system, yet so far in their lives they haven't cared enough to act on foreign oil dependency or global warming? Are they all oil-loving closet-Republicans?

Why do some meatheads think that all Republicans love oil and hate the environment?
I am as Republican as they come, and I ride a bike to work, have worked as an environmental engineer, and wish I could afford a hybrid vehicle.
I know golbal warming is a hoax, I went to school with Al Gore so I know he is a hoax as well, but I really believe in Peak Oil, and believe we have to be looking at alternatives.
As long as Libs and Cons are pulling in opposite directions, we are going nowhere.
I don't disagree that my line "oil-loving closet-Republicans" is a completely ridiculous exaggeration of the Republican Party. It was a lame attempt at humor (And, for the record, I have also been called a Republican on this same blog).
Still, I'm not sure I agree with you on global warming.
While I live by the credo, "the wise man is the man whom realizes he knows nothing", I think there is a lot of compelling evidence supporting man's influence on global warming.
Nonetheless, I won't disagree that there is still plenty of room for confounding variables.
Nevertheless, does it matter?
I argue relentlessly for attacking foreign oil dependency. Forget Global Warming. If we end foreign oil dependency, we inevitably reduce global warming emissions.
So, I completely agree with you. Let's focus on things that unite us, not divide us.
