Dropped something off at my local school today, and I was struck by the lack of American made cars in the teacher's parking lot. Teachers in LA are beginning strike talk - over conditions created by the recession - yet they don't buy American-and-UNION-made cars? Isn't their lack of UNION-support hypocritical?
No. Being in a union does no mean you support every union and its causes. At a stretch it means you support your union. In reality, though, it means you got a job that requires you to be in a union regardless of your support.
Amazing how they would choose both longer value retention and better economic value, than blind adherence to your union expectations. You are a major part of the reason the big three are failing. People will not sacrifice themselves for your benefit, but you expect they will.
I'm not a fan of unions, so maybe you should learn how to comprehend while reading, wakeupcall.
Still, when unions go on strike they always seek the support of other unions. Often, other unions even provide picketing services.
Ever heard of union solidarity?
The idea of the union and the labor movement is that EVERY laborer should have the alleged benefits of unions.
I don't think the credo "Buy union, live better" is subjective. Solidarity is the foundation of the labor movement and unions, and teachers prove why unions are no longer efficient because their is no solidarity.
Too many in unions only want the benefits of unions for themselves, not for those making the products union members buy.

Why would anybody in their right mind regardless of their ideology buy cars from companies on the brink of bankruptcy?

That's hypocrisy.
