Volt plant delayed

Factory for Chevy Volt engine delayed.Launch date still on target

GM has delayed plans to begin construction on a new factory that will make engines for both the Chevy Volt and the Chevy Cruze until the bailout issue is resolved to help save its dwindling cash supply. Nonetheless, according to those reports, the Volt will still hit showrooms in 2010.

Surprise surprise.

I doubt very much it'll hit showrooms. That's going to be in their next announcement.

It won't if they go into bankruptcy. If they get the bailout, if it's delayed, it won't be more than a few months, in my opinion. Congress will screw up a lot of things, but I'm sure any bail out will be somewhat hinged to the Volt for GM.

Besides, even if GM can only sell several thousand Volts per year for the first few years, imagine the marketing they'll get out of it.

What is amazing is GM was asking for $35 BB and their net worth currently is about $34 BB....which means this is more of a buyout and not a bailout.

All that talk of "transparency" by that douchebag Paulson...and we have no idea at all how that $680 BB so far has been spent...not a single dollar.

the bailout isn't purely about autoworker jobs, it's all the jobs related to the auto industry. they say - and who really are they - that each auto job creates 10 other jobs.

nonetheless, there is no doubt this bailout stuff has been a huge mess and it's going to get much more messy.

we probably ain't seen nothing yet, especially since Obama has big mortgage bailout plans in addition to his trillion dollar stimulus.

man, i got find out where they grow those money trees.

Let me know where that tree is if you ever find out.

I'm sure it's somewhere in NY.
