Cramer calls out OPEC conspiracy

OPEC killing interest in hybrid cars and solar power by reducing the price of oil?Killing alternative energy

Today on the Lightning Round of Jim Cramer's Mad Money, a caller questioned Cramer about solar plays under Obama. Cramer essentially responded that cheap gas is killing solar power and stated that OPEC had helped push oil prices lower to help offset interest in alternative energy.

Obviously, there are many out there espousing similar beliefs, but not many with the pulpit and Street cred of Cramer. While some consider Cramer a crackpot, it's still a pretty interesting statement.

The thing with Cramer is he may or may not make statements like this...if it suits him.

I believe in such conspiracies...one would be extremely stupid and naive not to. It's more logical and plausible than the totally bullshit concept of free market.

We have already established the fact that people don't give a shit about their future, their kids, or their environment...so it's not far fetched at all to consider the people with the power not giving a shit either.

Near sighted of them...yes...but that is what they do.

buying cars-

electric cars are more expensive than hybrid cars. also, if all vehicles in the US were as efficient as the Prius, then we wouldn't need any gulf oil.

noz-

i agree on cramer. still, for a pretty free market guy, it's an interesting statement.

i also agree that, unfortunately, most consumers will only do what is immediately most cost-effective, despite long term consequences or even long term gain.

sadly, it wouldn't be very hard for OPEC to dupe the American people.

I have a lot of confidence in Cramer and have followed his ideoligy and sadly I felt the same way as this was all going down. Remember lokk at how quickly all this has gone down. As soon as the hybrids and the fuel efficency standards and all the widesped pubblicity with the auto manufactures and plans being disclosed on the seriuosness of the electric cars oncoming etc you can see how they fear the dramatic change coming soon. Remember when the oil numbers change it takes the power "petro dollars" away from some nasty questional countrys out there: Russia / Chavez / Iran you name it theres something very dangerous under the surface here going on. Remember Chavez needs oil at 80 to pay back the Russians for his "war making" toys. For the Russians 80 bll oil makes up for the lack of any real idustry infastructure.
