in my month old MMH AWD, i'm regularly getting over 30mpg; combo about 50/50 hghwy/street. it's hard to be a hypermiler in my area; there's always someone right behind honking the horn 1/10th of a second after the light changes. i've changed my driving style; no longer race two blocks to the next red light; now take it easy (when possible) and stay in the green zone.

Owned my 2008 Mariner hybrid AWD 2+ years and love it. I avg 30 mpg in the spring/summer but only about 24 mpg during the cold winter months. The engine rarely shuts off when temps are below 0 degrees. I can drive in electric-only mode up to 8/10ths of a mile with fully charged battery (at speeds of less than 30 mph). I'll buy another when the elect-only range is extended and at higher speeds, with the future lithium battery. Tim Anchorage AK

I've had my 2009 Mariner 4WD for 6 weeks and I get 31MPG. The sticker was 27-29MPG. If I use the A/C a lot, or drive over 80 MPH on the hwy,it goes down to 30.5 but that is fine with me. I haven't changed my driving style, and I have to keep up to speed here in NJ, where everyone is in a rush to go anywhere.

Hi. We just returned from at 2,600 mile road trip from San Diego to Aspen and back carrying a full load of skis, suitcases, tire chains, etc in our 2008 4x4.

We averaged 27.5 mpg cruising at the speed limit (up to 75 MPH in places) Not bad for a fully packed (to the rim), full time 4x4 hybrid. We ran into a lot of snow packed roads (including interstates.) Our normal milage is 29.5 mpg driving 50/50 city/highway.

I have the 09 Mariner FWD HEV model. In summer I average 31.1 mpg, and in winter, between 27 & 28mpg. This is ~50% city, but it doesn't seem to make much difference
