Toyota testing plug-ins in England, lithium coming
A plug-in Prius filling up with solar energyToday, Toyota and EDF Energy of Britain have started road tests to evaluate Toyota's plug-in hybrid vehicles. The tests are being used to help EDF design infrastructure for recharging stations, and to determine "ease of use" according to Edmunds.
Toyota has long stated that it would offer such hybrid vehicles for fleet sales in 2010 but, due to higher energy prices, Toyota recently decided to move that date up to late 2009.
More important, Toyota seemed to confirm that when the plug-ins hit fleet sales next year, they will be lithium-powered, not NiMH-powered, as are the ones currently being tested by EDF Energy.

Dahc - Will you get the chance to drive this vehicle do ya think?
I am really impressed with the new Honda Insight though, as it will have an MSRP of 18K !! How the heck can you beat that...?? AND, Honda will have it here next spring. Wow, I may just buy that vehicle.
i'm also very excited about the Honda Insight. In terms of driving the Toyota plug-in, I hope so. I've been in the NiMH one, but I didn't get to drive it.
