Great a 4 wheel drive off-road plug-in hybrid. Surely that is what America needs right now.

FULL STORY

It seems that ex-Toyota man, Jim Press, a key figure behind Toyota's hybrid cars, has brought some hybrid mojo to Chrsyler. Despite a lack of public statements regarding progress, it seems Chrysler has quietly been working on technology for both plug-in hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles.

At the last Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler showed off 3 prototypes intended to use such technologies, but all 3 seemed very conceptual. Since, Chrsyler has had little to say about progress or intentions regarding these concepts.

However, very recently Chrysler has been showing some dealers early versions of a plug-in hybrid produced by Chrysler's Envi Unit, a new division dedicated towards hybrid and electric drive vehicles. Press told reporters that the vehicle can achieve 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds and offers a range of 300 miles. Oddly, he also noted the technology would be particularly useful for off-road vehicles.

While this progress is good news, don't expect any such vehicle to hit the streets for at least 3 to 5 years.

This is what I mean....these companies are a complete utter waste of time.

Ford/GM/Chrysler....

We need to just burn and bury them already....they have outlasted their usefulness already.

All this new Alaskan Oil will revitalize them! They can bring their outdated technology out of mothballs and suck it down!

I won't be buying one however. I'll support "forward" thinking trends in hopes of actually helping this country keep up with the rest of the world and maybe make it a better place. That's just my opinion. We'll see if anyone agrees or not Nov. 11th I guess.

ANON:

Unlike Dahc...I have very little to no faith in the public.

I was watching stuff just yesterday on youtube...just random stuff mind you...and I came across horrific videos of what cluster bombs do and how they lay strewn all over the hillsides of Beirut, Bosnia, etc....a lot of them still armed and sitting there like land mines.

My point is, people don't know of this stuff and they don't care. What's even worse is there are people out there who actually think and strongly want the use of these weapons to continue...we know who they are. And to think engineers actually work on this stuff. I'd really like to meet a fellow engineer who works on this stuff...and just see what a pathetic human being he or she really is.

But the bottom line point is don't hold your breath on Nov.11....watching the RNC made me want to vomit every time that crowd cheered for ideas and things that are truly stoneage.

well, part of obama's plan is to save the Big 3. he can't let the big 3 go, the UAW's votes are too important. so, if you believe obama is a step forward, that step moves forward with the big 3.

Gotta pick someone. Nadar just isn't going to pull it off. I don't agree either to bail them out, unfortunately, the claws of special interest are long and deep. I just want to see us quit talking about oil like it can save us if we just find more of it in our backyard. Still polutes. Still takes an insane amount of money just to get it out of the ground, ship it, refine it, ship the finished product to the consumer.

But, US citizens are dumb and don't care about anything but the now. It's rediculous.

Americans, and people in general, need to see the results of war. We have no clue.

If we had the responsibility of picking up a 5 year old child's body parts, thanks to an Israeli or US cluster bomb that we are so proud of, we'd not know what to do with ourselves.

The real hard reality of things is the only thing that will mobilize people in this country. Why do you think we have such large military and such powerful lobbyists? Because they want the thinking process completely removed from our side.

And they've done it. Mission accomplished.

Well Obama...

Since I lived through part of the Iran/Iraq war, I've seen my fair share of dead bodies...how many have you seen? I hope that satisfies your breadth of experience that probably doesn't go beyond watching Bill O'Reilly's balding head every night. Right?

Neither Obama or McCain are any good. We are getting duped again. Once look at Biden's record on his bias towards Israel is shocking...as he said himself..

"If I were a jew, I'd be a zionist..",

Yeah right...I want HIM for VP?

These issues aren't even surfacing. Obama has already stated that he will not faulter in supporting Israel...it's business as usual...our taxpayer money going there the same it always has.

Do you know OBAMA?LOL that you can claim donations to the IDF as tax write-offs here in the US? So I can claim a deduction on my US tax filing when I donate to the Israel military. Am I the only one who thinks that's totally f'ked up?

How come no one brings up these issues in this election? No one but Ron Paul had the guts to say enough military, enough helping Israel, enough going around the world to conquer.

Do YOU have the guts OBAMALOL to change your lifestyle? Do you have the balls to get your country back?

Or do you even care?
