Fuel economy, cars and politics

Large gas-guzzlers still qualify for tax incentives

Democrats are the party for greens, right? So, why are solar tax credits set to expire? Why are tax credits for hybrid cars expiring while tax incentives for huge gas guzzlers are not?

We shouldn't be surprised according to an interesting chart The Fast Report sent to Hybridcarblog. The chart shows a strong correlation between gas prices and the ratio of small to large vehicle sales. Overall, higher gas prices lead to less guzzler sales, more small car sales and greater US fuel economy. Great for greens, right?

And yet Democrats want to tap into oil reserves, grill oil executives and whatever else to try to lower gas prices, an event that will only lead to more gas-guzzler sales and decreased fuel economy. Contradictions?

Republicans couldn't run Congress and now Democrats can't either. Talk, talk, talk. Spend, spend, spend. Man, I gotta run for office. What a job!

I'll tell you why....because they....don't....care.

It's as simple as that. They couldn't give rat's ass about the environment, about oil independence, the safety of people here, the misery they are causing elsewhere.

They simply do not care.

Plus, they are backed up by a bunch of fascists rampant in our society today who call for larger vehicles, more powerful vehicles, pushers of the war, pushers of oil.

We (i.e. people who really genuinely do want to get off oil, would rather breath better, etc etc) are blamed as being the weak, the narrow-minded, the people who bring this country down.

I am so sick of the games these people play. It's just frakking retarded. And they are so stupid to not realize that what they are doing is harming themselves.

But as I have said before, how do you fight a bunch of people who are willing destroy themselves simply out of greed and spite?

i'm not sure how we fight them, but i think that giving up without trying is a scenario i'm not willing to accept, and i don't think you are either. that's why you argue your viewpoints on this blog and others, because you and i are trying to push change.

keep pushing.
