Tata taking Land Rover, Jaguar hybrid

Quickly emerging as a major force

Tata has announced that it will develop hybrid versions of both the Land Rover and Jaguar brands, according to Automotive.com, which doesn't interest me greatly. Sure, I'm happy to see any car go hybrid, but what is most interesting to me, is the aggressiveness of Tata in moving towards alternative technologies. Hybrid cars, fuel cell vehicles, bio fuels, and even an X-Prize entrant, all seem to indicate that Tata is quickly going to become a major player in the automotive world. When you consider the amount of technology-driven jobs that are outsourced to India, Tata's quick emergence has to be a little alarming to any faltering, major automaker.

Out with the old, in with the new?
