A new Prius or Civic hybrid for 2009? Better get on the list now

Gonna have to wait 3 to 4 months?
Cars.com called around the country yesterday trying to find out where a Toyota Prius or a Honda Civic hybrid can be found on a dealer lot. Waiting lists were the only thing they could find. While the average waiting list for a Civic hybrid was 3 to 4 months, the Prius was 4 to 6 months.
If you're shopping hybrid cars, it might just make more sense to tune up your current vehicle in the short term until supplies of hybrids can better meet demand.

I bought a used 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid back in April 2008. Used hybrids are also in demand as well. In the Boston area, there are some used Civic Hybrids and Accord Hybrids, but very few Ford Escape Hybrids and no used Priuses!
used hybrid demand is almost as bad, if not worse, than new hybrid demand.
in california, because of car-pool lane access, used prius hybrids with a car-pool lane sticker sell for more than new prius hybrids!
it's a tough market, but smart shoppers can still find some deals, well, at least some 'fair' deals.
still, this is very reminiscent of a few years ago, when the 2nd generation prius was also hot, but things eventually calmed.
of course, if a hurricane hits the Gulf.....
I'd say just wait....let all the suckers run out and buy them first....
This is why I hate buying a new car...there are ALOT of idiots out there who are willing to pay more than the car is worth...
US housing market anyone?
interesting housing market analogy, noz. i get the feeling that some are buying these cars just to quickly resell them. fricken speculators.
